Hopes were high that things would be different this year in a game against Bridgewater Post 203, but alas the baseball gods seemed to be happy leaving things just the way they are. It took until the top of the third inning for things to unravel for Rockland, but unravel it did. One of the most unsettling parts of this game for Rockland Post 147 was the fact that they had
no errors, and still could not keep it close. Bridgewater scored six times in the third, with eight hits, off of Rockland starter Joe Lennon. The Post 147 coaching staff was stunned to see the normally solid pitcher (Lennon) be hit so hard and so often in an inning. The "Raiders" never quit attitude, led them to bounce back in the bottom of the third inning, with singles from Steve Machaby, A.J. Roache, Josh Sullivan, and Cory Comeau, to pull within two runs of Bridgewater. Over the next four innings Rockland pitching could not stop Bridgewater from scoring, padding their lead with four more runs, while Rockland could do nothing further with Bridgewaters' pitching. The game ended on a 3-6-3 double play by Bridgewater, killing any hopes of a comeback by Rockland, and give Rockland their second loss, both of which were at home. On a good note Josh Sullivan went 2 for 3 at the plate, but on a bad note A.J. Roache strained his quadricep and is out for a week, along with Mike Mahoney out with a pulled hamstring for 3 weeks

ROCKLAND LEGION BASEBALL POST 147

Rockland Legion Post 147 baseball team paid another visit to Hanover High School field and Hanover Post 149 Legion team.In the past visits Rockland has come away on the short end of the stick, but this year hopes were high to change that.Post 147 jumped on Hanover pitcher David Gibson in the top of the first inning, when Rocklands' Cory Mitchell doubled and Nick Ayala hit a bullet over the left field fence for a two run homer, giving Rockland the quick lead. Hanover picked up a run in the bottom of the second inning due to and error by Rockland, and grabbed another run in the bottom of the third after solid hits from David Gibson and Mitch McClune.Post 147 Raiders struck again in the top of the fifth inning with another Cory Mitchell hit, followed by a Hanover error, and Gibson hitting Nick Ayala to load the bases. Rocklands' Matt Losciuto powered a fly ball deep to left center for a ground rule double, scoring Mitchell and Ayala. Losciuto would move to third on a wild pitch and score on a sacrifice fly by Cory Comeau. Rockland had the lead 6 to 2 and Raider pitcher Cory Comeau was having a masterful performance for Rockland. Hanover made it interesting in the bottom of the seventh inning and Rockland did their best to try and give the game away. Three errors and only one hit netted Hanover two runs, and the tying run came down to a play at the plate which was the third out for Hanover. Rockland Post 147 "Raiders" escaped with the win, but a great pitching performance by Cory Comeau was almost spoiled. Comeau pitched seven innings and allowed only five hits and 2 earned runs, and had Hanover off balance all night. Rockland wins their second game of the season 6 to 5 and improves to 2 and 1. Matt Lsociuto went 3 for 4 and Cory Mitchell went 2 for 4, while Cory Comeau struck out 5 Hanover batters.
