As we approach the dead of winter here in Rockvegas it becomes harder and harder for the town's deer population to survive. Snow cover and frigid temperatures make natural deer food nearly impossible to find. An extra harsh winter can cause widespread starvation and disease which could quickly decimate the entire herd. Rockland's deer population continues to increase evidenced by record high reported deer kills at Deer tagging stations in the area during the 2009 deer season. Even with record numbers of bucks and does being taken, Rockland's deer herds are bigger stronger and more abundant than they have been for over fifty years. These spectacular woodland creatures are beautiful to observe and are great sport for hunters, nature lovers, and photographers.

You can help keep these animals happy and healthy by feeding them. Fortified deer corn and wild life grains provide essential nutrition that deer need to flourish. The feed also provides nutrients that give the deer thick shiny coats and tails as well as increasing the size and strength of their antlers.

To get started go to Hanson Feed and Grain and buy a big bag of deer corn or wild life grains. Put a few small piles in wooded areas or where ever you have seen deer before. Before long you will have multiple deer eating the corn you provide which gives you an excellent chance to view these magnificent animals in their natural habitat right here in Rockland.

It is a good idea to put out a few small piles spread out a little bit. This way the weaker less dominate deer get a chance to feed while the others claim their own piles.
